Learner Support

There is a strong support network for the learners of Connah’s Quay High School provided by both staff within the school and professionals from external agencies who work closely with the school.

This support can be accessed by the learner directly or via the referral process (Tutor – Progress Leader – Assistant Headteacher, Mrs D Millington).   It is available for learners at any time if they are feeling under pressure or have concerns about what is happening at school or at home.  Often that support will be on a confidential basis although, if anything is disclosed of a child protection nature, the professional to whom it was disclosed will be expected to report it to the school’s safeguarding officer, Mrs D Millington.

The support network is set out below:

Support from staff in school:

  • Form tutor
  • Director of Learning or Assistant Director of Learning
  • Mrs M Daniels - Family Engagement Worker
  • Mrs C Worral - Family Partnership Worker
  • Mr G Tebble - Therapeutic Practitioner
  • Miss A Peters - Transition Support Worker
  • Mrs S Jones - Education Welfare Officer

Support from external agencies based in school:

  • Mrs P Preece – School Nurse (runs a drop in service every Wednesday in school which any learner can access).
  • Mr A Singleton – Flintshire School based counsellor (in school each Thursday, learners can refer themselves or ask that a member of staff does it for them).
  • Careers Wales (in school throughout the week to see learners regarding future career opportunities).

Any queries regarding this support network can be directed to Mrs D Millington, either via email or by phone.
