Pupil Deprivation Grant 2017-18


Connah’s Quay High School receives money in the new financial year 2017-18 as part of the Pupil Deprivation Grant in Wales.

This money is delegated to schools to ensure that the learning needs of some of the most vulnerable learners are further supported by targeted learning activities and support. Connah’s Quay High School; has used this money to undertake the following activities during 2017-18.

  • Curriculum Enrichment opportunities for learners to identify vulnerability.
  • Intervention posts for Literacy and Numeracy Intervention Teachers
  • Appointment of an additional member of the data management team to track progress of vulnerable learners for all staff in the school. Additional training for staff to effectively track and monitor progress of these learners on Assessment Tracking Systems.
  • Use PLC’s to focus on the raising of achievement for all vulnerable learners through the themes identified in the School Development Plan.
  • Family Engagement Worker to support parents in supporting learners in school.
  • Appointment of Family Intervention Worker to focus on developing positive relationships with families of children from deprived backgrounds so as to increase levels of engagement and partnership.
  • Appointment of Inclusion Support Worker to track and monitor Attendance, Data of FSM/ LAC/ Vulnerable Learners and provide appropriate support.
  • Financial support for FSM/ LAC/ Vulnerable learners to allow them to fully partake in school life (formal and non-formal).

The impact and evaluation of these activities is undertaken on a regular basis and reported to the regional consortia on a termly basis.
